Computer Says Yes

In the 21st century, computer technology is key to successful business. But without the funds to invest in computers and software, it is almost impossible for entrepreneurs from Africa's poorest countries to build a thriving enterprise.

Cue Patrick Bitature and The Green Computer Company, which sources used computers from around the world, refurbishes them and sells them for the bargain price of $175 in Uganda. Launched in 2008, it’s already transforming small businesses across the country.

Such innovative, modern companies that have wide social impact are vital if poor African countries are to boost their economies and move towards longer-term development. And since it recycles, the company’s green too – meaning it doesn’t have a major impact to climate change.
